This ensures you and the horse that chooses you develop a strong bond and work together as a cohesive team.
✨ Building Trust and Communication
Learn to recognise your horse’s unique body language and signals, establishing a strong foundation of trust and understanding that allows you to communicate with ease.
✨ Personalised Journey
The horse you connect with each week will choose you—ensuring the experience is authentic and tailored to both your needs. Together, you will move at a pace that suits your relationship and goals, making sure to leave no stone unturned so that you can then achieve your ridden dreams be they to canter with a horse completely at Liberty or ride at a high grand prix level using Biomechanics and breath work completely tackless.

Join a community of like-minded individuals, sharing experiences, challenges, and victories in a supportive, encouraging environment.
At ALEA (the Australian Liberty Equestrian Academy), we empower you to develop the skills and confidence needed for horse ownership, ensuring that you build your abilities progressively without relying on negative reinforcement tools such as whips or spurs. Safety is at the forefront of every interaction, and our approach is grounded in the values of freedom, respect, and responsibility—honoring both humans and horses. We believe that true horsemanship is built on a foundation of mutual trust, ethical care, and clear communication.
What truly sets us apart is our Guided Part Lease program, designed for the empowered horse person. Completing Foundations Levels 1 and 2 leads into this program, where participants can continue developing their skills through Liberty riding, driving, or groundwork as they advance through our structured levels. This program bridges the gap between traditional riding lessons and full horse ownership, allowing you to experience the joys and responsibilities of caring for a horse without the full financial commitment. With dedicated time to bond with the same horse, personalised instruction, and a supportive community, you’ll develop the skills, confidence, and connection needed to thrive as an independent and compassionate horse person.

FAQs
-
No. Our sessions are designed to be focused and distraction-free. We follow a drop-off only policy as this is not a spectator sport. Unfortunately, experience has shown that non-participants often unintentionally disrupt sessions by not adhering to safety protocols. Most riding establishments now operate as drop-off only for similar reasons. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
-
No. We have a no phone policy to help everyone stay present and focused. If you would like photos or videos for personal use or social media, we will capture key moments and share them with you.
-
No, we do not provide a waiting area for support persons. However, there is excellent coffee nearby at Taste my Bean (TMB) on Old Cleveland Road. We appreciate your cooperation.
-
We have undercover areas that allow sessions to continue in most weather conditions. We will only cancel if conditions are unsafe. Please wear gumboots and a waterproof jacket if rain is forecast.
-
We do not offer reschedules or refunds. Each horse is only worked once per day, and when you reserve a spot, that horse is reserved exclusively for you. Missed sessions cannot be transferred or refunded. Unlike other establishments, our horses follow a balanced work-life schedule to ensure their well-being. Cancelled sessions affect both our horses and our small business. Thank you for your understanding and for planning your sessions in advance.
-
We will always have activities for you to do. Alternatively, another horse may step forward to work with you—an experience that mirrors the unpredictability of horse ownership.
