  • Hands on

Long reining teaches humans enhanced communication and body positioning skills, improving empathy and balance. It fosters mental and emotional awareness, promotes confidence and trust, and develops patience and analytical thinking through the need for adaptability and quick decision-making in guiding the horse.

    Deepened Partnership:

The activity builds a stronger partnership and connection between horse and human by focusing on gentle cues and positive reinforcement, leading to increased trust and understanding of the horse's character.

    Emotional Awareness:

It fosters emotional awareness by requiring the human to be present and attentive to the horse's responses, leading to a more empathetic interaction.

    Improved Balance & Coordination:

Long reining demands active use of the entire body to guide and propel the horse, improving the human's overall balance, coordination, and posture.

    Fitness:

The activity serves as a gentle form of physical exercise for the human, contributing to fitness.

    Analytical Thinking:

Long reining hones analytical skills as the human must observe the horse's movements, understand the impact of their aids, and adapt to achieve desired results.

    Patience and Quick Decisions:

It requires significant patience to train and guide a horse effectively, alongside the ability to make quick, accurate decisions and adapt the training approach as needed.

    Confidence:

Successfully applying long reining techniques builds the human's confidence in their horsemanship abilities.

Long reining a horse isn’t just for those equines pulling a carriage. It is a useful skill for every owner/rider to have because, when done correctly, it will help with your horse’s development.
