What you’ll learn in Level 1 and 2 ridden foundations
you can
-
BECOME TRULY INDEPENDENT
You are fully capable of becoming the partner your horse truly needs.
Through this journey, you will learn how to read their subtle cues, prepare them with intention, and make confident decisions together.
Imagine the feeling of arriving at the barn and simply knowing what to do—enjoying every moment as a capable, independent horse person, while professional guidance supports you every step of the way.
We don't want you dependent on lessons forever; we are here to give you the lifelong tools, knowledge, and confidence to thrive on your own.
-
LEARN TO WHISPER
Every great partnership starts with a hidden conversation. You have likely watched someone work with a horse and wondered how they communicated so effortlessly, without a visible cue.
The secret lies in the fact that horses are extraordinarily sensitive to the subtlest changes in our bodies. Through our programs, you will learn how your posture, balance, breathing, intention, and timing directly influence your communication. As your awareness and skills develop, your requests will naturally become smaller, quieter, and almost invisible to the outside eye.
We are here to teach you the language of true connection. Until one day, you whisper, and your horse finishes your sentence.
-
UNDERSTAND WHAT YOUR HORSE IS TELLING YOU
Horses are speaking to us every single moment. They communicate continuously through their expressions, movement, posture, attention, and responses to the world around them.
The real question is: how much are we actually noticing? Through this foundational learning, you will discover how to recognise these subtle signs, understand what truly influences your horse's behaviour, and learn to respond with absolute clarity.
If it feels like there is an overwhelming amount to listen to at first, don't worry. We will start with the core foundations and build your understanding step-by-step, transforming confusion into a deep, natural connection.
-
DEVELOP A PARTNERSHIP BUILT ON CHOICE
True connection begins when a horse actively chooses to step into your space. You will learn how to build a partnership where your horse recognizes you, understands your routines, and genuinely enjoys your time together.
This isn't about passive obedience. You will learn to cultivate a relationship where your horse feels safe to express an opinion, say no, make suggestions, and fully participate in the conversation. At ALEA, liberty isn't about performing tricks without a rope. It is about developing the precise communication, deep trust, clear boundaries, and mutual understanding that allow two individuals to work together willingly.
We will guide you through the process of creating a relationship where both of you have a voice—and give you the foundations to let that bond grow naturally over time.

NATHALIE
Hi, I’m Nat—your guide to equine connection and fun.
Spoiler alert: I didn’t always coach from a place of pure liberty. For years, I climbed the traditional ranks, training to Grand Prix level, managing major stables in the UK and Europe and building a successful corporate career. I thought I knew horses inside and out—until I met Coco.
Coco was a sensitive, explosive turning three year old Thoroughbred mare who flipped my world upside down with dramatic flair. Through her fierce opinions, she forced me to throw out the traditional rule book and discover the power of natural horsemanship and equine psychology. That pivotal awakening was the end of my corporate life and the birth of my true calling. From then on, every single one of my herd have been my teachers and partners every single day.
Today, with over 39 years of horse experience—spanning everything from retraining off-the-track racers and brumbies to breaking in Warmbloods—I blend elite, international-level training and FEI expertise with deep emotional alignment.
As a Biomechanics Coach and expert in Equine Psychology, Applied Equine Behaviour, Reiki Master, Seichim Master, Yoga teacher and human counselling, I bridge modern science with soul-to-soul connection. In fact, I've trained my entire herd to work at a high level using nothing but breathwork and energy—no whips, bits, treats or bridles required.
We were one of the first in Brisbane to do part leasing programs (programs which I was involved in when I was a child in Belgium) and I am so thrilled to see so many active leasing programs now, we were one of the first to offer equine therapy with retrained off the tracks, Brumbies, ponies and warmbloods with massive waiting lists and now there are so many wonderful places who continue this amazing journey, then we set up ALEA and the horses thrived which makes my heart sing - our time in Queensland was surrounded by the most amazing beautiful souls. We are proud of our diverse experience and the trusted reputation we built over the years. Under our EquiTune Wellness through Horsemanship umbrella, we have been deeply honoured to provide specialised animal assisted programs for participants from organisations including NDIS, QPS, QCS, ADF, and First Nations support initiatives. Within this safe space, we help individuals address burnout, trauma and capacity building through profound connection. It is this foundational success that led us to establish ALEA, bringing our deep expertise in tackless horsemanship, connection and conscious riding to life. We were fortunate with long waiting lists in QLD due to our unique approach and are eternally grateful to every person who patiently waited to connect with the herd. We are thrilled that so many of our QLD community continue to reach out, make time for us and are even travelling across state lines just to see their horses because at the end of 2025, we were told that our home was to be turned in to a school so we bought land near Byron Bay leaving our community behind and stepping in to a brand new chapter. Land where our horses can retire when they wish to (so far none are volunteering yet!).
After a massive journey setting up our dream facility at Patchs Beach, NSW, the arenas are prepped, the all weather yards are ready for the wet season, the paddocks are ready, and the horses are raring to go. As we turn the page on this exciting new chapter in NSW, we look forward to sharing our many years experience and are here to help you ditch the traditional tools, tune into your higher self, and build a genuine, revolutionary partnership with your horse based on Friends and Freedom.
You won’t see me much on social media - I like to leave the limelight to the horses and you - I like being behind the scenes celebrating the beautiful partnerships. There is nothing I love more than witnessing Artax neighing urgently at his person because she is running late and she has FINALLY arrived.

FAQs
-
No. Our sessions are designed to be focused and distraction-free. We follow a drop-off only policy as this is not a spectator sport. Unfortunately, experience has shown that non-participants often unintentionally disrupt sessions by not adhering to safety protocols. Most riding establishments now operate as drop-off only for similar reasons. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
-
No. We have a no phone policy to help everyone stay present and focused. If you would like photos or videos for personal use or social media, we will capture key moments and share them with you.
-
No, we do not provide a waiting area for support persons. However, we are only 5 minutes from the Wardell Pie Shop. Or we highly recommend a walk or swim at Patchs Beach. We appreciate your cooperation.
-
We have undercover areas that allow sessions to continue in most weather conditions. We will only cancel if conditions are unsafe. Please wear gumboots and a waterproof jacket if rain is forecast.
-
We do not offer reschedules or refunds. Each horse is only worked once per day, and when you reserve a spot, that horse is reserved exclusively for you. Missed sessions cannot be transferred or refunded. Unlike other establishments, our horses follow a balanced work-life schedule to ensure their well-being. Cancelled sessions affect both our horses and our small business. Thank you for your understanding and for planning your sessions in advance.
-
We will always have activities for you to do. Alternatively, another horse may step forward to work with you—an experience that mirrors the unpredictability of horse ownership.
